Cuttack: Director-General, Fire Services, Shri M.Akhaya held a meeting on virtual
mode with all senior Fire Officers of the State, on the preparedness, mitigation, and
management of anticipated cyclone during this year’s pre-monsoon period. In this
meeting, the discussion was made on the preparedness and availability of tools and
equipment in different Fire Stations for responding to any emergencies including
clearance of roads, rescue operation, etc. Besides, the review was also done about
the availability of trained manpower and contingency plans to meet any eventuality.
The Officers were also instructed to keep in touch with the District administration and
keep all available tools and equipment in good working condition.
Further, DG, Fire Services also reviewed the Fire Safety measures
taken including the deployment of Staff in dedicated Covid Hospitals across the State.
In view of several recent serious fire accidents in different Covid Hospitals
resulting in loss of life and property in other States, the Fire personnel were
instructed to prevent any such incidents in Odisha by keeping themselves in
readiness along with firefighting equipment. They were also instructed to carry
out the mock and evacuation drill regularly in all Covid Hospitals and Covid Care
Centres to make the staff acquainted to meet any fire emergency.
