PM Modi to introduce key Tamil Nadu projects through video conferencing

New Delhi: PM Modi to introduce key Tamil Nadu projects, Leader Narendra Modi will initiate key activities of the oil and gas area in Tamil Nadu on February 17 by means of video conferencing. His office said Modi will devote to the country the Ramanathapuram–Thoothukudi flammable gas pipeline and fuel desulphurization unit at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Manali.

He will likewise establish the framework stone of the Cauvery Basin Refinery at Nagapattinam.

These tasks will bring about significant financial advantages and will help the nation’s walk towards Urja Aatmanirbharta, the PMO said.

The Ramanathapuram-Thoothukudi area (143 km) of the Ennore-Thiruvallur-Bengaluru-Puducherry-Nagapattinam-Madurai-Tuticorin Natural Gas Pipeline has been laid at the expense of about Rs 700 crore.

It will help use gas from ONGC gas fields and convey petroleum gas as feedstock to ventures and other business clients.

The gas desulphurisation unit at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), Manali has been developed at the expense of about Rs. 500 crore.

It will create low-sulfur (under 8 ppm) climate cordial gas, help decrease outflow and contribute towards a cleaner climate, the PMO said.

The Cauvery bowl treatment facility to be set up at Nagapattinam will have a limit of 9 million metric tons for every annum. It will be set up through a Joint Venture of IOCL and CPCL at an expected undertaking cost of Rs. 31,500 crore.

It will create engine soul and diesel meeting BS-VI particulars, and polypropylene as a worth added item, the PMO noted.

Tamil Nadu is among the five states going to the gathering surveys in April-May.
