Why we celebrate Ambedkar’s jubilee

Bhubaneswar: Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti is an annual festival celebrated on April 14 in memory of BR Ambedkar. This is the birthday of Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar, who was born on April 14, 1891. It has been celebrated as a public holiday across India since 2015. Ambedkar’s jubilee is celebrated not only in India but all over the world. Ambedkar’s jubilee procession was performed by his followers at Chaitanya Bhumi in Mumbai and Dekha Bhomi in Nagpur. It is customary for senior national figures like the President, the Prime Minister and leaders of major political parties to pay homage to the statue of Ambedkar in the Indian Parliament in New Delhi. It is celebrated all over the world, especially by Dalits, tribals, workers, women and those who converted to Buddhism. A large number of people in India remember Ambedkar visits local statues. Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s first birthday was celebrated on April 14, 1928 in Pune by social activist and Ambedkarite Janardhan Sadashiv Ranapaise. He started the tradition of Baba Saheb’s birth anniversary or Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. On April 14, 1990, Ambedkar was awarded the Bharat Ratra Award. That’s it. His life-size portrait was also unveiled at the Central Hall of the Year. From April 14 1990 to April 14, 1991, the time was celebrated as the “Year of Social Justice in Baba Saheb’s memory.”
