Opposition leaders called for a halt to the MLA’s funding and a 30% pay cut

Bhubaneswar: Opposition leader Pradeep Kumar Nayak has proposed to the state government to cut the legislative fund like MPs and reduce the salaries of elected representatives by 30 per cent. Opposition groups called for a boycott of the assembly. The whole country and the state are united as one soul with the corona virus. We have a big role to play in this time of crisis between the country and the state without representing the people. Therefore, I urge the state government to suspend the MLA’s Hand Fund of all Odisha MLAs for two years.

The state government should also reduce the salaries of all MLAs and ministers by 30 per cent for another year. I propose to set up a special fund to raise money from the MLA Lad Fund and the cuts to the salaries of ministers and legislators and to spend it on corona countermeasures and long-term health plans. The central government has introduced this provision for MPs. The same system that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented at the Center should be implemented immediately in Odisha. I propose that political individuals who are presidents of various government agencies in the state, such as the Development Council and state-owned enterprises, be paid a minimum of 30 per cent. The opposition leader made the proposal in Twitter.
